Nuts & Bolts

All week i was waiting for calls from a couple of perspective employers. Nothing came. Then i recieve something from across the border... Silent at first and then strange breathing like noises (or could it be my own?) then followed by another call which i promptly hang up. I thought that nut will never call again after my last warning to her... i guess a Nut will remain a Nut. Last night, i received yet another unexpected call. A call that came 19 years too late.

It made me think and wonder why some people would persist to call even after all these years to make the call that would never be responded back in kind? Why call when you know the end result is a never pick up or awkward hello? Maybe they were hoping that the call will connect them to their own fictional fantasy world of possibilities. Like that dog Bolt in the latest disney cartoon who didn't realise he's living in a fiction world that's not real. All his life he's programmed in his heart and mind just to love his "person" aka owner, Penny. Not until he was accidently misplaced and displaced in New York that he finally opened his eyes for the first time and took in reality. He wouldn't know the true meaning of life also if he hadn't meet his first real true friends in a cynical stray cat named Mittens and a TV obsessed hamster Rhino who's living in his own fictional world as well. Through these friends, he learnt to live like a dog that he is. To enjoy the simpler things in life. To appreciate love, friendship and even being vulnerable, not pretending to be a superhero dog all the time. God has been gracious to put a few Bolts, Mittens & Rhinos in my life.

There's nothing else for me to be in want except to continue to wait for that call. The call that would eventually hit my heart with a lightning bolt.
